Canadiens@School
This year marked the launch of the Canadiens@School program to the delight of teachers and students in the greater Montreal area. In support of their upcoming centennial, the Canadiens wanted to celebrate this milestone with something unique – an @school program. The resource was designed to involve students and the community with the Canadien’s rich history, the club and their players, and to enhance the learning for students in Quebec.

From teachers:
“I am very impressed with the whole idea. Well done, very pedagogically sound. Super idea for motivating the students in reading.”

“They (my students) were really excited! Part of my job this year is working with behavior students (esp. 7 students in particular), so it motivated them and allowed them to stay on task and work together as a group which they often have trouble with. They are also very big hockey fans, so it grabbed their attention right away.”

• 51% of the schools in the Greater Montreal area.
• A total of 2,388 educators are participating in the program.
• An estimated 64,449 students are participating in the program.
• 97% of teachers rated the program as being good to excellent.
• 97% of teachers found the program convenient and accessible.
• 91% said their students found the unit/activities interesting.
• 99% said they would be interested in participating next year.

And from the Canadiens…"The Canadiens@School Program has given kids, educators and parents the chance to become even more involved and knowledgeable with the Canadiens and their history as well as with the sport of hockey. Paton Publishing was instrumental with the successful launch of the bilingual program from curriculum content, website development through to marketing and we are very pleased with the results so far." Ray Lalonde, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Montreal Canadiens.
